Religious Rights for Jews!

Why do we have to fight for our civil rights in Israel?

Why do Jews get arrested for praying in our most sacred spot?
Jew Arrested for Praying on Temple Mount
Reported: 10:44 AM - Sep/26/10

Police on Sunday morning arrested a Jew who had prayed on the Temple Mount. The circumstances of the arrest were not clear, and family members and friends were seeking to have the detainee released.

This isn't the first time.  It's not really news considering how often it happens, but it's awful just the same.  Each time we hear of such a case we must scream and complain as if it's a surprise, as if it's the first time.  We mustn't let the frequency of these anti-Jewish acts jade us to their seriousness. No doubt that if we build the Holy Temple, the Moshiach will come and reveal himself.  He has been lurking around since June, 1967 when Israel defeated three armies and liberated Judea, Samaria, Golan, Jordan Valley, Gaza and Sinai.  Our procrastination is holding things up.

Just a couple of months ago was Tisha B'Av, the 9th of Av when Torah Jews fasted to commemorate the destruction of our Holy Temple and  the loss of Jerusalem thousands of years ago.  Since June, 1967, the Temple Mount, Har HaBayit has been in the custody of the Israeli Government.  Why haven't we built the Third Temple?  Why aren't Jewish Prayers routine and legal on Har HaBayit?

"If you build it, he will come..."
No doubt that the Moshiach ben David has been lucking here since June, 1967, when the IDF miraculously defeated the three Arab countries/armies, Jordan, Egypt and Syria, and in the process liberated Judea, Samaria, Golan, Jordan Valley, Gaza and Sinai.  It's up to us, not up to G-d.  We must show that we're ready.

If the WOW were truly religious and not just interested in "destroying the patriarchy, they'd be the women of the Mount.

"For this our heart is faint, for these things our eyes are dim;

For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

Thou, O LORD, art enthroned for ever, Thy throne is from generation to generation.

Wherefore dost Thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?

Turn Thou us unto Thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

Thou canst not have utterly rejected us, and be exceeding wroth against us!"

- Eichah (Lamentations) 5:17-22

Something is very wrong with us if I can quote relevant passages from the end of Megilat Eichah, on Chol Hamo'ed Sukkot. :(

While I hear what you are saying Batya, but there are halachic issues with going up there before the Bais Hamikdash is there. There was actually a man accosted by a police officer for making brachos on his lulav and esrog.

Oh my gosh! Making a bracha on a Lulav and Etrog on Har Habayit - and on Sukkot, of all the nerve!

CreativeMommy, use some creativity and ask yourself if the Stasi Israeli police arrested the man because he was halachically not allowed on that spot on Har Habayit.

And I'm speaking as someone who's Rav told me not to go up to Har Habayit.

Maybe they should have arrested the Rambam when he went up on Har Habayit, huh?

I didn't say that it was right that they got arrested . Just stating that fact. For all you know , it could have been for the person's safety because there could be some violence coming because of the "peace talks".Sometimes I wonder about these police officers and how they could have such a warped and cold mind not to let the kedusha into their souls. I keep wondering if there is a way to bring their souls home.

cm3, there are rabbis who say a lot of things. My rabbi considers Jewish presence on Har HaBayit important. And if we don't go, how will there be a "Bais Hamikdash?" Will the Arabs build it for us?

Why does your Rabbi think so? I honestly don't know how the Bais Hamikdash will get here but I have a feeling that once Moshiach comes it will be taken care of by Hash-m and supposedly those that don't recognize Moshiach won't matter . My husband actually is into all this stuff and knows all the ins and outs. I actually bought a DVD all about the Bais hamikdash. It's like a walking tour. I haven't had a chance to watch with full concentration yet.

Listen, I agree that it was disgusting that the police don't give the Jews the right to daven where they please. It's really sick how some jews don't know what it means and tend to treat those who know what it means with disgust.

cm3, Har HaBayit is very large and a good portion of that is of lower kedusha (holiness.) There are rabbis who have made detailed maps. Just like prayers alone don't cure people of illness, one does take medicine etc, just praying for the Beit HaMikash and Moshiach isn't enough.

CMTO3, why don't you open up a Rambam to see how the Beit Hamikdash will get here.

Sefer Shoftim/Hilchot Melachim/Perek 11.

Lo Bashamayim Hi.

Even if we are not worthy of building the Beit Hamikdash, we have caused a tremendous Chilul Hashem by handing over His House to His and our sworn enemies, as if there was no relevance between Am Yisrael and Dvir Beito.

What a disgrace we are!

Shy, always include some English. Thanks
Yes, I agree that we're not to wait passively and G-d's probably roaring mad at us.

I am aghast at cmt3's comment (26 Sep at 19:50):"For all you know it [the arrest] could have been for the person's safety because there could be some violence...."

So an innocent person may be endangered by violent thugs, and therefore the cops arrest the innocent person?! Should they not instead arrest those who are threatening or even carrying out the violence?!

I guess that things look different from where she's sitting.

When people are affiliated with secular organizations that would give the kotel and mount to our enemies, or are members of "religious" groups that oppose the restoration of the Temple and korbon, "you don't need a weatherman " to know that they are not acting with kedusha.

I think I must have been thinking of another incident that I saw on Yeshivaworld where the police office just tried to stop the person from benching the the lulav. Sorry for the error.
BUT , I find it very very sad that JEWISH officer does not know the meaning or the treasure of Torah that he would do such a thing.

a, the kotel is a much, much lower holiness than the Temple Mount.

cm3, the problem is with government policy which the police enforce.
