Faux-Peace "Came for War"

"They simply came for war," and nine of them ended up dead. Read more!

Israeli forces appeared stunned and ill-prepared for their violent reception.

Activists aboard the six ships carrying aid to Gaza had said they would not fight when their ship was boarded.

"The only resistance that there might be would be passive resistance such as physically blocking the steering room or blocking the engine room so that they couldn't get taken over," Audrey Bomse, a spokeswoman for Free the Gaza Movement, told the BBC.

The Israeli military's plan was to drop members of a commando team onto the top deck of the Mavi Marmara, the largest ship of the flotilla, in the dead of night and rush to the bridge to demand that the boat be turned around.

Expecting only minor resistance, the Israelis were armed with paintball rifles. They carried pistols but were under orders not to use them. Read more.

That has me worried, bad planning based on a totally inaccurate assessment of the true nature and intentions of the anti-Israel agitators manning the flotilla.  The fault lies in the Israeli Government, Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister, and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Shalom!
What can be expected from a man who ran out of Lebanon (which is really part of Israel, right?) with his tail between his legs, leaving a huge amount of equipment? I'll never forget Barak's shocked face as the Arabs battered Kever Yosef (Joseph's Tomb) in Shechem either. How does someone so gullible reach the position of defense minister?

P.S. I suppose Bibi was too busy planning for the Obama meeting to pay much attention to the flotilla.

Peter's Principle
In general, Bibi has given Barak a free hand to do so much damage. Who knows how much he knew. Bad management.
