Olmert's Follies

Former Israeli Prime Minister and Jerusalem Mayor, Ehud Olmert, seems to be heading for a bigger fall than originally expected.  It is being revealed that his corruption was greater than padding travel expenses.

I expect that not only this luxury apartment complex padded his pocket.  I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the contractors who are building the light-rail and string bridge have generously thanked Olmert, too.  Olmert always has been careful and calculating in his image, his way of dressing.  Until recently he dressed very, very well in public.  Suddenly he's showing up at his trial wearing relatively informal clothes, obviously to try to give the impression that he's not all that rich.  I don't think it's successful.  The public knows he's  a crook.
