Prayers at Tel Shiloh

On Sunday, Rosh Chodesh Tevet, the first of the Jewish Month of Tevet, a group of us went to Tel Shiloh to pray.

How could we not pray, when our country is in such danger? Successive Israeli governments have been caring more for our enemies, giving them Land, food and medicine, while simultaneously arresting and restricting the most patriotic among us.

Finally on the Shabbat of Chanukah, the government decided to "attack" the terrorists in Gaza. As if taking a lesson from one of those modern child psychology books, they're making a point of distinguishing between "terrorists" and "civilians." Gaza is a terrorist entity, ruled by terrorists and supported by its population.

I really didn't plan on writing so much politics here. I wanted to express the feeling of the "shechina," the spirit of G-d, we feel here in Shiloh.

It was reassuring to see that the recent rain had caused the land to be muddy. It's winter and there should be lots of mud. Israel's in the midst of a very serious drought.

Last year, at this time of the year it was all green.

Instead it was like a cold summer's day, but here in Israel, so close to the equator, it never gets cold in the summer. Sunday morning was bitter, like G-d must be at the horrendous way the Jewish People has been treating the gifts He has given us.

It is already over forty years since the Six Days War, and modern Israeli leadership, Jewish leadership all over the world, have allowed our Land to be handed over to our enemies. Our enemies, once so defeated, are getting stronger, and the Israeli Government is feeding them. That's why our Holy Land is looking so parched and brown in the middle of the winter.
