Katrina and Disengagement-- Not The Same

A couple of years ago, when nature's cruelty showed its force in the New Orleans area around the same time as the Israeli Government cruelly destroyed people's homes, town's and businesses, many people were busy pointing out the similarities. all those homeless people...

But it's not the same, and that's not because there's no "Gustav" battering Israel this year.

It's because after things dried up, the Katrina refugees were invited back. The DP's, displaced people of Gush Katif and Northern Shomron have not been invited back to their homes. The vast majority are still in "temporary housing," and Arab terrorists have built launching pads to attack Israel from the former Jewish communities.

And the Israeli government, led by Ehud Olmert, is continuing to plan more destruction of Jewish homes and the weakening of our sovereignty.

Shalom!
Batya, did anything in particular prompt this article, or were you "just" musing?
Although the causes are totally different, two years (at least) after Katrina, thousands of refugees from New Orleans were also still living in trailer camps. Actually one cause is the same: governmental bureaucracy. But, at least the people from New Orleans know that the government isn't intentionally making their lives unpleasant.
