It's All In The Timing

I admit that I haven't read every article discussing why Yvette (Avigdor) Lieberman left Olmert's Government, just now, but the CPA's daughter in me goes to the numbers.
The numbers I'm talking about are the polls, what today's modern ambitious politicians eat with every meal.
Two things have been eating away at Lieberman's potential support. One is he, himself, his actions and words. It's hard to reconcile his joining Olmert's anti-Land of Israel, anti-Jewish Civil Rights policies with what Lieberman claims to believe in. And the other is the potential political power of billionaire Arkady Gaydamak. He has invested his money where others just float words.
Here are a sample of some recent polls:

IMRA, 18 Jan 2008, Actual Knesset today in [brackets]
27 [12] Likud
19 [19] Labor
11 [29] Kadima
11 [09] Nat'l Union/NRP
10 [11] Yisrael Beteinu
07 [11] Shas
08 [00] Social Justice (Gaydamak Party)

And a week earlier:
11 January 2008
Dahaf poll of 500 adult Israelis (including Israeli Arabs) conducted 8
January, 2008 for Yediot Ahronot.
Statistical error +/- 4.5 percentage points.
If elections were held today how would you vote (expressed in mandates - no
indication how many were undecided)
Actual Knesset today in [brackets]
28 [12] Likud
21 [19] Labor
11 [11] Shas
10 [29] Kadima
10 [10] Arab parties
08 [11] Yisrael Beteinu
08 [09] Nat'l Union/NRP
07 [00] Social Justice (Gaydamak Party)

Yes, I'm sure he wants G-d's support, too. No harm for the man who wants to rule, nu?

Yeah, I too didn't read too much about Lieberman leaving either. I'd like to give him zchut and think that he really did leave because sitting any longer in All-merde government talking about 'core' issues was too much.

I have no criticism for Shas and wish them the best for themselves. At any time, they could prove to be 'the' Jewish party caring about am yisrael and eretz yisrael. Eli Yishai could run for PM and be the sefardi Feiglin, but it seems that they don't want to lead, merely continue to be the lackeys of the white leftists. I really hope that orange folks will remember this next elections.

I hope the orangle members of knesset get their act together. Eitam/Alon have a nice plan to start a new orange party and make it democratic, but the orange folks are too busy assessing the situation rather than realizing that every second wasted now, is a nail in the coffin of yosh and J-town. The same mistakes are being made all over again and only Ron Nachman and Arieh Eldad have come out strongly against the government.

a, I'm no expert, but no doubt, you're right. Problem is that there are many Israelis willing to sign over their freedom for his "kindness." That's how bad this Olmert government is!

josh, I don't trust Lieberman one iota. And Effie Eitam is no leader. Unfortunately Rav Benny doesn't want to give Arieh support and power.
