Between the devil and the deep blue sea...

Regardless of who wins the Labor leadership primary, they'd never get my vote.

Right now, considering the "inaccuracies" of the polls, Barak and Ayalon are running neck and neck. Even though Peretz made a deal with Ayalon and instructed his supporters to vote for him, nothing is guaranteed. Some of those floaters, who had voted for the losers of the first round, won't vote at all, and others may even vote for Barak. Israel does have secret ballots.

At the same time, political pundits are wondering who will win the Israeli Presidency, a largely ceremonial post. The fear is that Shas will support Peres to thank him for "money," and Peres will do his best to turn the presidency into a powerful position. That's especially since it involves meeting lots of foreign dignitaries, Peres's kind of people.

Democracy isn't all that great, considering who has the power to vote.
