Has The United States "Unfriended" Israel?

Or should I really be asking if the United states ever was a true friend of Israel?

It's not only a matter of Jonathan Pollards unprecedented quarter of a century plus in the American jail system which should make all Jews and Israelis wonder about how sincere and honest the American Government is when they claim to be great friends and allies of Israel.

Hat tip: Shy Guy
US Ousts Israel From Counterterrorism Forum
The US blocked Israel's participation in the Global Counterterrorism Forum's, due to fierce objections from Turkey.
Is that the action of a friend and ally?

Nu, have you heard any "fierce objections" from Israel?  or World Jewry?

Why doesn't the Israeli government and people ever object in a way that would make the United States, United Nations, Europe and other foreign powers fear our anger?

Israel and Jews worldwide will continue to be kicked around, abused, insulted etc as long as we're silent and passive.  That's the way of the world.  I have no doubt that from 1948, when logic was against the survival of the State of Israel that the world, including the United States, expected us to fail.  Basically, they expected a "stillbirth," not the birth of a vibrant nation that would be around sixty four years later.  No country helped us fight the Arabs.  No country donated arms and men.  They all waited for the Arabs to finish off the job the Nazis had started.

Maybe you don't like what I've just written. Can you prove me wrong?  I want facts and numbers, not feelings.  You can't prove me wrong; can you?  The two dove-tailed contradictory Harry Truman stories should be looked at carefully.  On one hand, legend has it that he was a great friend of Israel.  Nu, if that was the truth, why did his old buddy, a Jew, have to use protexia, force himself into an appointment with the busy US President and beg that Truman instruct the United States Delegation to the United Nations to vote for a Jewish State?  If Truman had really been so pro-Israel, then no pressure from his friend would have been needed.

Let's just finish this lesson off with Bob Dylan's most important song:
Neighborhood Bully

Well, the neighborhood bully, he’s just one man
His enemies say he’s on their land
They got him outnumbered about a million to one
He got no place to escape to, no place to run
He’s the neighborhood bully
The neighborhood bully just lives to survive
He’s criticized and condemned for being alive
He’s not supposed to fight back, he’s supposed to have thick skin
He’s supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in
He’s the neighborhood bully
The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land
He’s wandered the earth an exiled man
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn
He’s always on trial for just being born
He’s the neighborhood bully
Well, he knocked out a lynch mob, he was criticized
Old women condemned him, said he should apologize.
Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad
The bombs were meant for him. He was supposed to feel bad
He’s the neighborhood bully
Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim
That he’ll live by the rules that the world makes for him
’Cause there’s a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a license to kill him is given out to every maniac
He’s the neighborhood bully
He got no allies to really speak of
What he gets he must pay for, he don’t get it out of love
He buys obsolete weapons and he won’t be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side
He’s the neighborhood bully
Well, he’s surrounded by pacifists who all want peace
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease
Now, they wouldn’t hurt a fly. To hurt one they would weep
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep
He’s the neighborhood bully
Every empire that’s enslaved him is gone
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon
He’s made a garden of paradise in the desert sand
In bed with nobody, under no one’s command
He’s the neighborhood bully
Now his holiest books have been trampled upon
No contract he signed was worth what it was written on
He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth
Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health
He’s the neighborhood bully
What’s anybody indebted to him for?
Nothin’, they say. He just likes to cause war
Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed
They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed
He’s the neighborhood bully
What has he done to wear so many scars?
Does he change the course of rivers? Does he pollute the moon and stars?
Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill
Running out the clock, time standing still
Neighborhood bully

ho hum, Batya shows again, that she doesn't get out much. I spent two years stationed in Bahrain. Please believe me when I tell you that the Muslim/Arab delegates will spend most of their mental energy on sampling the nightclubs (with girlie shows). You should thank your lucky stars that no IDF majors and colonels will be receiving taxpayer-funded foreign-currency allowances for THIS particular "meeting". Attendence to these kind of travels is how a Gulf monarch rewards his loyalest mid-level Army/Mukhabaret officers. You see, in Bahrain, the Police own the semi-legal brothel business. Which leaves the other Branches of Service wanting their share of the pie. There's filipina & thailander waitresses etc who are able to latch onto US Navy boyfriends, but that's not sex on a "short time", "taxi meter" basis targeted towards rich visiters from Qatar & Kuwait (and of course, the normal weekend rush hour of Saudi guys driving in across the bridge). The cops own the latter.

Alan, interesting. So the "conference" is just a dangerous sham?

it's a sham, but it's not "dangerous". Look. Anti-terrorist activities are wonderful; they have also become an entrenched and lucrative bureacracy in countries (unlike Israel)where the REAL THREAT is insignificant. The King of Bahrain isn't placing the Throne at risk by taking advantage of this "conference" to give some favors out to people that he.... owes favors to. The US organizes these event as a way of getting to know the mid-level people in the internal security organs of these attending countries. Hey, some colonel that you met at a conference this week, might be the guy doing the coup d'etat 5 years down the road. And now you know him by first name, and also what his favorite adult beverage is.

Plus, you NEVER KNOW when you might be able to get a few useful tidbits of info about the Emir from Lt Col Abdullah.... when he's drunk at the table in the strip bar.

If you knew anything about Mossad, you'd know that they ALSO know all these "tradecraft" secrets.

Batya, I understand your devotion to the purity of the Israeli womanhood. But please take a moment to review the method used by Mossad to reel in Vanunu after he became a "situation" in London....

I love everything you do Batya. But you don't get out much.

It's in the same category as: Why do Israeli governments always let the religious nutjobs have the Religion portfolio? Because, at the end of the day, how much damage can they do the State from there? Little to none. The Minister of Religious Affairs is like a pesky mosquito. The folks who sell airplane tickets to Cyprus love the Minister of Religious Affairs.

Alan, I don't think there is a Ministry for Religious Affairs; there used to be.
I'm glad you enjoy most of what I write. I never expect anyone to agree with me all of the time.
